Introducing Event Express: 2018
“ New Year, New Me” were the words on everyone’s lips as we ended 2017 all those weeks ago. As the clock struck 12:00, we bid farewell to a stockpile of failures and successes and welcomed the challenge of a new year ahead.
For many, there were a list of resolutions created ambiguously after Christmas Day in anticipation of a new start; for others, there was a spontaneous burst of motivation – and possibly an ounce of satisfaction upon realising that the New Year would begin on a Monday, and thus the perfect time to make a drastic change. But here at Event Express, there were plans in place from mid-2017; cogs turning like an endless pocket-watch, meticulously detailing the steps we would take to better the service we give so gratefully to our clients.
But we’re not here to talk about the decisions we made and why we made them, we’re here to tell you the result of these decisions and the positive impact they will have on our service, our company and our clients. We’re here to introduce Event Express, 2018.
Event Express is a Worcester-based accommodation agency, offering a free service that is dedicated to providing convenient and discounted hotel accommodation for the events and exhibition industry. We negotiate discounted rates at hotels located in close proximity to all event venues around the UK and liaise entirely with the hotels on your behalf, so you can continue preparing the bigger tasks for your event knowing that your accommodation requirements are being taken care of.
But what are these “big changes” that we write so zealously about?
Well, the first is that we’ve grown! Over the last couple of months, we’ve introduced two new members to the Event Express family. In November, we welcomed our new Sales Director, Jon Cortinas; an experienced, knowledgeable and downright lovely guy, who came to us from the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington. Jon has worked in sales for 12 years and has five years’ experience in the hospitality industry, so we’re elated to have him in the team and working closely alongside our clients.
Abigail Hartwright – our newest recruit – joined the team in January and came to us from Stanbrook Abbey in Worcester. Abigail’s professionalism and experience from working in hospitality will be an asset to the Event Express team, and we are really excited to have her working alongside the Reservations team and ensuring that our group bookers are well looked after.
Our next big change is one that is most probably common knowledge and has perhaps already been discussed within your own four walls: General Data Protection Regulations. As of 25 May 2018, the Data Protection Act 1998 will be replaced with GDPR in a prompt for employers to review their practices.
Although the new legislation is fundamentally an adaptation of what we already know, the team at Event Express are now looking forward to the opportunity to work more closely with our clients in a bid to work well with it.
On a more exciting note, 2018 at Event Express brings the birth of a technological face-lift almost as big as the iOS 7 release.
Perhaps not. But it’s still pretty big.
We will be saying goodbye to the accommodation weblinks and our website as we know them, and undergoing a complete aesthetic overhaul. There will be modern design, fluid functionality and the capability to reflect the branding of our clients to a tee. By summer 2018, we will be sporting a completely fresh online presence that will be entirely about our clients and our service.
The final project coming to life in 2018 may, at this point, seem slightly obvious now, as you’ve been reading it for the last few minutes.
You see, at Event Express we care about our clients and the work that they do. We appreciate the time, the detail and the professionalism that goes into creating a successful event, and the importance of providing exhibitors with the best level of service we possibly can so that they can focus on succeeding as well. So, we wanted to show how important our service is for the events and exhibitions industry by joining in the conversation.
In the final week of every month, we’ll be publishing an organic, personable article on event news, features or interviews to create some light, informative – and hopefully quite charming – reading to keep you, our dedicated readers, entertained.
We aim to inform you, to entertain you, to inspire you – or even keep you company while you’re having a five-minute coffee break. There will be a mixture of event news, hotel news, features, interviews, top tips and throwbacks – the Buzzfeed of eventprofs, if you will.
So there we have it. The “New Us”. While we still have the same quality personal customer service, the same solid reliable team, the same knowledge within the same industry, by growing our team and evolving our online presence, we are stronger. Stronger and more grateful to our valued clients, whose loyalty and dedication to Event Express have enabled this to happen.
There’s a lot of exciting changes on the horizon for us and our clients, and although we’ve already kicked off the year with a fantastic January, it’s only the beginning.
